Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is that children learn best in a hands-on, loving and fun environment. The “work” of children is play. They learn countless lessons about socialization and how the world operates through the play process. Having said this, we also realize that these same children must be prepared for the rigors of the kindergarten. Each age group has their own curriculum that introduces concepts and skills that are age appropriate. As the child's abilities, skills and attention span grow, so does the curriculum. Thematic units that are introduced in the 2's (weather, animals, etc) are reintroduced and added onto in the 3's and 4's. This “overlapping” curriculum reinforces skills and concepts that the child can build on and gain a sense of mastery. The 4 year olds also begin the “letter of the week” throughout the year as well as more complex thematic units. This year we are adopting the “Handwriting Without Tears” curriculum that is being taught in the WCS kindergarten programs. Because there is so much emphasis on reading and writing in kindergarten, we want to make sure that our children are prepared for this task! But we are also excited about this curriculum because it is a fun and comprehensive program that the children truly enjoy. We are taking “bits” of this curriculum and introducing it into the 2's and 3's curriculum as well, so that they too will be ready for the 4 year-old classes, and ultimately, kindergarten. Developing the fine motor skills that children need to have in order to write is a process that takes time and practice. What may look like “play” to an adult is really “work” to our preschool children!

Our children play outside everyday that weather permits because developing our large, gross motor muscles is very important to our growth and development. We also have chapel and music once a week. Only our 5-day a week classes have computers in their rooms as we feel that playing and socializing are the “work” of preschool.

Because we have so many children with severe allergies, we are peanut-free school.

School Year

The EBPC Preschool follows the Williamson County School (WCS) calendar. The cut-off birth date for all of our classes is September 30, which is the same for WCS. We take children once they are 2 by September 30. We offer classes for 2's, 3's and 4/5's. School is 9-2. We have Monday-Wednesday-Friday classes, Tuesday- Thursday classes, as well as Monday thru Friday for some of our 4/5's. We do not offer before or after care, nor do we offer school in the summer, except for a few weeks of “Art Camp” in June.

Registration

Registration is in January for the fall school year. Preference is given to EBPC Church members and Preschool families first. Registration cards for the community at large are randomly pulled in a lottery fashion. A second wait-list is started for those who register after the January deadline. There is no fee to be on the waitlist. A registration fee of $60 is required at the time of registration for church and preschool families, and for those obtaining a spot once they have been notified. A one-month's tuition and supply fee are due May 1, which secures your child's spot in the fall and can be refunded with a 30 day written notification on all current accounts. Registration fees and supply fees are non-refundable.
