One of the stars of the hottest musical in the country is coming home to Middle Tennessee to perform a unique concert for one night only. Chris Lee, recently named a lead in the Chicago-based production of Hamilton, will team up with Nate Strasser to perform a variety of musical theater selections as well as compositions and improvisations by Strasser. The one-of-kind concert will take place on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at East Brentwood Presbyterian Church in Brentwood.
East Brentwood Presbyterian Church is conveniently located at the corner of Concord Road and Wilson Pike at 9000 Concord Rd. Free childcare and parking will be available onsite.
“The Broadway production of Hamilton was nominated for a record 16 Tony awards and won 11, including Best Musical,and is currently selling out theaters in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco,” said John Hilley, pastor at EBPC. “We are beyond honored that Chris and Nate will perform in our Sanctuary days before Chris takes the stage in Chicago. This will be a one-of-a kind experience not to be missed.”
Chris, a former Belmont student, has recently been cast in the Chicago production of Lin-Manuel Miranda's successful Broadway musical and pop culture phenomenon Hamilton, which begins its Chicago run on September 27. He will portray the Marquis de Lafayette in the first act of the musical and Thomas Jefferson in the second act. He'll star alongside Tony-winner Karen Olivo and Miguel Cervantes, who has been cast as Alexander Hamilton.
Nate is a film composer, pianist, staff accompanist for the musical theater department at Belmont University, and music director of East Brentwood Presbyterian Church. As an arranger, he has done music prep work for Dave Matthews and Seth Macfarlane. In 2013, Nate was one of twenty students worldwide accepted into the film scoring graduate program at USC in Los Angeles. Since graduation, he has scored a number of films including one that debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016.
